Zeidlerei mini-workshop

  • St. Jacobi-Friedhof 99 Hermannstraße Berlin, Berlin, 12051 Germany (map)

**SOLD OUT**

We’re offering a rare chance to learn Zeidlerei (tree beekeeping) during two informal, hands-on workshops in Berlin. The objective is to complete several log hives that were started during the Learning from the Bees conference, so that they can be installed in time for the Spring 2020 swarm season. These hives will eventually participate in a citizen-science project to collect data on the health and habitats of wild honey bee colonies, which will be tested in Germany this year and then launched officially in 2021 internationally.

Learn about all stages of the practice of tree beekeeping without the formality of lectures nor the cost. During the workshops, you’ll:

- Witness how experts make first cuts with chainsaws
- Learn basic safety precautions and tool maintenance
- Hollow out logs
- Carve bee and beekeeper entrances
- Polish interior cavities
- Create top lids
